Why is preliminary admission different from final admission?
Read the conditions after an offer. Original documents, additional evidence, the final decision and enrolment may be separate steps requiring separate confirmation.
After preliminary admission, read the outstanding conditions and deadlines first. An acceptance message may still require original-document checking or additional evidence. Final admission can then be followed by separate enrolment and payment tasks.
Keep the exact status used by the institution
Ewha’s Spring 2027 guidance distinguishes preliminary admission, originals and conditions, final decisions and enrolment. Its application period has closed; use the sequence as a case and check your own notice.
Do not assume preliminary admission, conditional admission and a waiting list mean the same thing. Keep the original status with its follow-up instructions. Translation should not turn every status into “final acceptance”.
Make an action record after the notice
Current notice | Verify | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|---|
Preliminary admission | Your number, department and outstanding conditions | Original notice and condition list |
Originals | Required form, receiving office and arrival rule | Submitted copy, dispatch and receipt |
Additional conditions | Language or other evidence applying to you | Evidence and delivery record |
Final decision | Confirmed outcome and enrolment instructions | Final notification |
Enrolment | Intent, payment and institutional receipt | Completion records |
Record the date, time and time zone. Separate upload and postal-arrival deadlines, and test-result release from the institution’s receipt deadline. Do not adopt a supplementary schedule intended for another applicant category.
Uploaded files may still need original verification
Where assessment uses uploaded files before checking originals, a completed upload does not finish original submission. Compare the requested authentication, signatures and issued copies with what you hold.
If issuance is delayed, explain the available document, expected issue date and deadline to the school. Do not assume an alternative or extension has been accepted. Keep the reply with the application, and separate “in transit” from “received by the school”.
Identify who qualifies for a conditional-language route
A supplementary language-evidence arrangement does not establish one deadline or alternative qualification for everyone. Check its eligible group, evidence and relationship with the initial entry requirements.
For example, an applicant awaiting results should track “test taken”, “required result achieved” and “result delivered” separately. Taking the test alone does not fulfil the condition. Ask the admission team about your exact status if categories or dates are unclear.
Confirm enrolment after final admission
Check the amount, receiving account, payment-confirmation method and any statement of intent in the enrolment instructions. Track originals, results and payment separately while organising the next steps.
