Art and design study in Korea: is a portfolio upload enough?
The application, artwork files, declarations and practical assessment may have separate submission routes. Build one checklist for the exact department, degree and intake.
An online application may leave portfolio or practical-assessment tasks unfinished. Read the requirements for artwork files, physical media, declarations and interviews separately. Undergraduate and graduate applicants, or departments within one university, may need different lists.
Separate application and assessment submissions
SNU Fine Arts’ completed Spring 2027 round required postal USB portfolios and declarations, with separate practical or interview arrangements. Graduate Art Management had different submission conditions.
Use that case to identify separate tasks, not to reuse an old deadline. Open the new round’s departmental instructions and check which items still apply.
Build a portfolio submission record
Area | Question to verify | Record to keep |
|---|---|---|
Application unit | Which degree, department and field? | Exact advertised programme |
Artwork evidence | Which formats, quantities and lengths? | Final files and submitted version |
Delivery | Upload, USB or post? | Address, receiving office and method |
Declarations | Signature, pledge or artwork explanation? | Signed final version |
Assessment | Practical test, online or on-site interview? | Notice channel, time and required items |
Check whether a personal website is accepted and whether file names or explanation languages are prescribed. An attractive portfolio and a technically usable submission are different things. Review file size, playback conditions and format.
Explain the process and your own contribution
For collaborative work, identify your responsibilities. References, production dates, revisions and submitted explanations should agree. If technical tools were used, check the route’s rules and disclosure requirements and describe actual use accurately.
For example, someone who edited a team film should not present it as a solo production. Explain the editing contribution and decisions, and connect them to the submitted file. The same record can support interview preparation.
Include any on-site assessment in the plan
An online application does not establish an online assessment. Check how selection notices arrive, whether attendance is required and which materials to bring. Connect travel and stay preparation to the school’s actual instructions.
Distinguish a postmark deadline from an arrival deadline. Retain copies of submitted media and dispatch records, then link receipt confirmation to the application. An exception in a previous round should not be assumed for the next one.
Match the programme before finalising the submission
Enter your intended field, existing work, degree, language and intake in the free roadmap. Compare actual advertised programmes through GEA university matching, then organise portfolio preparation and the institution’s specified submission steps.
