Before paying a Korean university: check operations, contracts and refunds
Go beyond an accreditation label. Verify the actual intake, payment recipient, contracted service and refund contact before committing funds.
Before applying or paying, check whether the institution is actually recruiting and operating the intended programme. A university name or accreditation record does not settle the contract, payment and subsequent processing. Complete a checklist using official admission information and replies from the responsible office.
What an official notice illustrates
On 24 July 2026, Korea’s embassy in Bangladesh advised checking university operations, financial condition, recruitment and refunds after an operational disruption. Use it to identify checks, rather than infer a school’s current situation.
Accreditation, availability of a specific department this intake, the payment recipient and the contact for disruption are different questions. Keep their evidence separate so changes can be checked later.
Complete a pre-payment checklist
Check | Compare | Retain |
|---|---|---|
Recruitment and operation | Official intake, course and campus notice | The relevant round’s source |
Payment request | Institutional invoice and recipient | Items, currency and deadline |
Service agreement | Work, fees and start conditions | Agreed contract and scope |
Cancellation and refund | Rules by reason and stage, request channel | Applicable terms and process |
Contact | Admissions, finance and service office | Official channels and replies |
Connect a translated summary to its original source. If a school reply differs from a consultant’s explanation, identify and resolve the particular item before payment. A total without a source or intake is insufficient for understanding a request.
Separate institutional payments from service fees
Tuition, accommodation, document expenses and support services may have different recipients and refund processes. Record the purpose and recipient of each item and the confirmation expected afterwards.
For example, postponing university entry while retaining a consulting service requires separate confirmation with each organisation. Notifying one party does not automatically cancel another contract or payment.
Verify current facts after news of a change
Do not establish a school’s current recruitment or refund position from one online post. Check current institutional notices, the responsible office and relevant official guidance. Record the date and scope of any answer so different intakes remain distinct.
If payment has already occurred, organise the agreement, invoice, transfer and receipt confirmations, and school replies together. Record what processing was requested from each organisation to reduce repeated document exchanges.
Define the shortlist and remaining questions
Put your course, intake, budget and unanswered questions in the free roadmap. When considering GEA university matching, compare actual advertised conditions and cost evidence. For an unclear payment request, use a designated consultation channel instead of posting sensitive bank or identity details publicly.
