A caregiver career after studying in Korea: degree, certification and Korean
Prepare the domestic qualification, caregiver certificate, Korean-language evidence and actual employer separately. A related major, professional certification and employment are different steps.
Foreign graduates of Korean institutions considering caregiver employment should organise the degree, professional certificate, Korean and employer together. Choosing a social-welfare-related major and obtaining a caregiver certificate are different steps. Graduation should not be presented as completing employment arrangements.
Connect the official conditions to evidence
The official legal-information guide separates a Korean associate degree or higher, caregiver certification, language and employer conditions. Its language routes include TOPIK 3, KIIP stage 3 completion or a pre-assessment score of 61 or above.
Before enrolling in training, present your education and current stay status to the provider to check eligibility. Training, examination, employment and administrative processing should not be combined into one application.
Prepare a stage-by-stage record
Stage | Organise | Next check |
|---|---|---|
Education | Korean award, institution and graduation date | Completion and evidence |
Certification | Provider, training, examination and certificate | The education and assessment needed for you |
Korean | Exact test, course or assessment record | Applicable requirement and evidence |
Employer | Institution, duties, workplace and contract | Facility type and recruitment review |
Administration | Current status, expiry and change history | Procedure reviewed by the responsible office |
Check the actual designation and workplace rather than relying on “care” in an organisation’s name. Review the applicable hiring cap and wage conditions against employer records too. Separate sites operated by the same organisation should remain identifiable.
Separate social welfare from caregiver certification
Keep caregiver certification as its own field even where related study or another qualification exists. Show actual records to the training provider to establish any additional education required. Course titles alone should not establish an exemption or certificate award.
For example, a Korean associate-degree graduate who has Korean scores but no caregiver certificate still has certification tasks to complete. An introduction to an employer does not fill that gap.
Understand the actual work and conditions
Check duties, location, hours and shifts, pay and deductions, and any accommodation arrangements. Applicants should understand the work they will perform; the employer should describe the same actual conditions.
Compare the CV, certificate, language evidence and proposed contract. Record previous employment and any approaching stay expiry so the responsible adviser can review the sequence using accurate information.
Prepare for a GEA enquiry
In the employment enquiry, describe your actual degree, certification, Korean and whether an employer is confirmed. Entering those facts does not establish a particular immigration route or employment decision. Employers can provide real duties and facility details through the employer enquiry.
GEA provides employment counselling and matching. Visa and stay-status administrative work is handled by its partner administrative-agent office, 나우투게더행정사사무소. The enquiry separates employment preparation from the documents needed for administrative review.
