A Korean job résumé for international applicants: connect experience to the role
Show what you actually did in classes, projects and previous jobs. Use this evidence checklist to organise qualifications, language experience and application versions for a Korean employer.
For a Korean job application, put relevant experience where the employer can find it quickly. Experience does not have to come from formal employment. Clearly identifying a class project, placement or previous job—and explaining your own contribution—helps the employer assess your preparation.
Start with a reliable record
The official Work24 guide separates education, employment, projects, languages, training and qualifications. Use that structure as a reference; the employer’s vacancy determines the actual application format and required fields.
Keep a master file containing your full education and experience history. Create an application version for each vacancy by selecting the most relevant examples. Qualifications and dates stay consistent; the order and emphasis can change.
Connect facts to the job
This GEA preparation table helps organise your evidence. It is not a list of attachments that every employer requires at the first stage.
Area | Facts to establish | What to show on the résumé |
|---|---|---|
Education | Institution, official award, subject and dates | Relevant courses and assignments |
Employment | Employer, dates, position and actual duties | Tasks you personally performed |
Projects and placements | Whether this was a class, club, internship or another activity | Your contribution within the team |
Languages | Existing test results and practical use | Reading, writing or communication tasks you have done |
Qualifications and training | Issuer, date and content | Knowledge relevant to the target duties |
Match grades and awards to records you can check. An examination booked for the future and a result still pending should be labelled accordingly. Neither is an achieved score.
What if you have no formal work experience?
A class project can demonstrate useful experience without being presented as paid employment. State the setting, then describe the actual work.
Consider this hypothetical example: “Prepared the English draft of a product introduction and organised a shared terminology list for a business class team project.” It is more informative than “Excellent at international marketing.” For a customer-facing vacancy, prioritise genuine communication experience; for an administrative role, relevant checking, organising and writing may be more useful.
Do not invent performance figures when none were recorded. Explain the output, your responsibilities and the result that was actually reviewed. Before sharing team work, identify your own contribution and confirm that the material can be disclosed.
Separate language ability from availability
A test score does not describe every workplace task. List the score accurately, then add practical experience such as drafting emails or summarising a meeting. If your Korean résumé translates a subject differently from the English degree certificate, include the official qualification wording so the records can be connected.
Expected graduation, current immigration status, expiry of the permitted stay and the earliest actual start date are separate facts. Mark confirmed dates and matters still being reviewed. Do not promise a start date before the employer and relevant stay procedures have been checked.
How should a cover letter differ?
A résumé makes experience easy to locate. A cover letter can develop selected examples: the situation, your responsibility, what you did and the outcome. When the employer supplies specific questions, answer those questions first.
Compare employer names, qualifications, dates and responsibilities across both documents. Rather than repeating the same motivation statement everywhere, explain how your experience relates to the duties in that particular vacancy.
Run a final submission check
Read the job title and actual duties again.
Check the type, dates and your role for each experience.
Confirm that the email address and telephone number work.
Save the requested file format, language and filename.
Record the employer, vacancy, submission date and exact files sent.
Do not attach a complete identity document or bank details to a public résumé. If additional evidence is requested, check its purpose and destination and provide the relevant documents through that channel.
