My school asked for a bank statement. Do I have to spend all that money on tuition?
No. That's proof of funds. It's money you show, not money you spend.
It shows the school and the embassy that your family can support your studies.
Korea's Ministry of Justice sets a standard: twenty million won for a degree
program,
and ten million won for a language course.
At regional universities, it's lower: sixteen million won and eight million won.
So that's exactly how much I need?
That's the standard.
Schools and embassies can ask for more, and they also tell you when to issue the
statement.
Always check both guides.
One warning.
Some people borrow money, keep it in an account for a few days, and take it out
right after.
Don't do it.
Officials can check where the money came from.
A balance that doesn't reflect your real situation puts your visa at risk.
So: real money, shown at the right time.
Exactly.
Quick check: do you have to spend all of your proof-of-funds money on tuition?
