Path A, Path B... how do I know which one is me?
Answer three questions. Be honest. There are no wrong answers.
Question one: how long can you study Korean at home before your start date?
Less than six months, six to eleven months, or a year or more?
Question two: what's your Korean level right now?
None, basic, around TOPIK one or two, or intermediate, TOPIK three or higher?
Question three: your budget.
Can your family cover one to two extra years of language school and living costs in
Korea, on top of the degree?
Hmm. That one's important.
Here's how your answers work.
If you already have TOPIK three or higher, Path B. Apply straight to a degree.
If you have basic Korean and at least six months, or you're starting from zero but
have a year or more, Path B is realistic too.
Set a TOPIK goal and a test date.
If time is short for your level, and your family can support extra language study,
Path A is the safer start.
And if time is short, and the budget is tight too, talk to a consultant.
That mix needs a personal plan.
So 'consult' doesn't mean I failed?
Not at all. It means your situation deserves a closer look.
Now, answer the three questions on your screen.
Whatever your result, set a TOPIK goal.
For a bachelor's degree, level three is a strong target.
It's also the Korean standard for more part-time work hours in your first two years.
Then pick a test date that fits your application,
and check your school's own requirement.
My path is a plan, not a guess!
That's it. And if you'd like help, you can talk to a GEA consultant anytime.
It's your choice.
Next up: what does studying in Korea really cost? See you in Module 3!
See you there!
